Clarksville Presbyterian Church




Mecklenburg Deed Book 39, page 394. The trustees of the Clarksville Presbyterian Church in 1873 were were N. Talley Sr., WH Gee, & WH Morton Sr. 1 Aug 1873, the trustees sold two half acre lots to RB Chaffin and EM Moon for 600$. These lots were numbered 53 and 32, fronting on Main Street a distance of 420 feet back to Market Street. The Presbyterian Church purchased this property from Dr. S. Harris in 1860.

The Clarksville Presbyterian Church building was first located at 209 Fourth Street, the present day Second Baptist Church. The second location was temporarily (1908-1909) at the Russell Furniture Building, until the present day location was built, in 1909.

Second Baptist Church, previously the Clarksville Presbyterian Church.

No schools were on the grounds or part of this church. The Carrington Sisters were members of this church and had a boarding school nearby called Sunnyside.

No cemetery is on this church lot or affiliated with the Clarksville Presbyterian church.
