Julie's Mecklenburg, Virginia Discoveries

My grandfather Frank Lassiter was married to Maude Rose February 12, 1922 – my grandfather and Stephen Rose’s grandfather were brothers.

Frank was born Feb 20, 1892 at the old Warren home place right across the road from where he lived his entire life. He died January 12, 1987

Frank entered the U. S. Army Aug 29, 1918 at Boydton, Virginia and left from Norfolk, Virginia for Brest, France. He was 26 years old. He was discharged at Camp Lee, Virginia on April 17, 1919.

He told stories of arriving into France just as peace was declared and riding down the streets of Paris with cheering crowds on either side. I have a handkerchief that he brought home to his sister – it is on the wall next to my computer.
